How to Clean your Throw Rug

outdoor throw rugs

AllWeatherRugs.net offers cleaning and "care" instructions for all the indoor and outdoor throw rugs we sell.  Proper care will ensure that your indoor and outdoor rugs will last for years.  We encourage all of our customers to clean their throw rugs on a regular basis since dirt and foreign particles can work their way into the weave of the rug, causing unnecessary wear and tear.

INDOOR THROW RUG CARE

VACUUM, VACUUM, VACUUM!!!  This is the most important thing you can do for your indoor throw rugIndoor rugs receive abuse from dirt, sand, dust, oils, and foot traffic.  Follow our vacuuming tips to extend the life of your indoor throw rug:

    1.   Ensure the beater bar is operating when in contact with the throw rug carpet top.

    2.   Adjust the height of the beater bar so that it gently vibrates the top of the indoor rug carpet fibers.

    3.    Check your vacuum's bag regularly.  Vacuums work best when the bag is 1/2 full, or less.

    4.    Run the vacuum across your indoor rug in both directions.

Regular vacuuming can extend the life of your indoor throw rug.   If your indoor rug is not vacuumed regularly, it can become matted with oils or other foreign material.  These materials will attract more grime which will dull your rug.  Professional cleaning or thorough spot cleaning will be necessary.  The indoor rugs at AllWeatherRugs.net are made with 100% viscose, a rayon fiber.  This material should not be cleaned using alkaline cleaning chemicals and you should avoid excess drying or agitation during the cleaning process.

Indoor/Outdoor Throw Rug Care

All  of our indoor/outdoor throw rugs at AllWeatherRugs.net are VERY easy to clean. Simply hang your throw rug over a fence, tailgate, or a couple of outdoor chairs and hose it off. To thoroughly clean your throw rug, hose off both sides of your outdoor rug to ensure all particles are removed. After hosing off, please let it air dry for approximately 2 hours. For tougher stains, mild soap and water is usually all that is needed. Maximum strength rug cleaners are not recommended due to the harsh chemicals that are made for indoor carpets.
